INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE |
1. Surfaces to be soldered must be clean to form a strong bond. |
2. "Tin" the tip of your soldering iron by wrapping it with a few turns of rosin core solder and heating the iron until the solder melts. For electronics, only use 60/40 rosin-core solder. |
3. Use the iron to heat the parts to be soldered, not the solder itself. Touch the point of the iron to the work. Then, apply solder to the work you have heated. |
4. Allow the solder to cool undisturbed. |
5. Don't over-solder. Use only enough to make a good connection. |
6. Immediately after use, again clean and "tin" your iron's tips to maintain the best performance. |
7. Let the tip cool, then wipe it with a damp rag to prolong tip life. |
8. To change tips: (A) Make sure the iron is completely cool; (8) loosen the screw with a Phillips screwdriver; (C) remove the old tip; (D) insert the new tip; and (E) tighten the screw. |
